Taking aluminum as the base metal, it is incorporated with magnesium, silicon, manganese and other alloying elements. Product Overview:

Compared with 1xxx pure aluminum coils, 3xxx anti-rust aluminum coils and 5xxx aluminum-magnesium alloy coils, 8xxx series coils show remarkable advantages in strength, wear resistance and high-temperature stability. It is one of the fast-growing high-end aluminum alloy products on the market.

Our 8xxx series aluminum coils are produced in strict accordance with national standards GB/T 3190-2020 Chemical Composition of Wrought Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys and GB/T 3880-2012 Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Sheets, Plates and Strips for General Industrial Use. We implement full-process control from raw material melting to finished product delivery. Our products deliver high dimensional accuracy, stable chemical composition and premium surface quality, fully meeting customized processing requirements from various customers.

Main Grades & Chemical Composition:

The mainstream commercially available grades include 8011, 8021, 8079 and 8090. Among them, 8011 is the most widely used general-purpose grade. The compositional differences between various grades mainly lie in the content of iron, silicon and other elements. By adjusting the ratio of alloying elements, we can obtain products with different strength, elongation and corrosion resistance to suit diverse application scenarios.

 

Product Performance Characteristics:

Excellent Mechanical Properties

8xxx series aluminum coils can be processed into products with varied strength and ductility through different heat treatments, such as O, H14, H18 and H24. Taking 8011 as an example, O-temper coils feature an elongation rate of over 25% and outstanding deep drawing performance, ideal for forming complex shapes. The tensile strength of H18-temper 8011 exceeds 200 MPa, featuring high hardness and strong deformation resistance for structural component applications.

While retaining the advantage of light weight, 8xxx series coils achieve prominent strength. With a density of only 2.7 g/cm³, roughly one-third of steel, it effectively reduces the overall weight of end products.

Good Corrosion Resistance & Stability

A dense protective aluminum oxide film naturally forms on the coil surface, effectively blocking moisture and corrosive media. It performs well in normal atmospheric environments as well as weak acid and weak alkali conditions, resisting oxidation and rusting and boasting a much longer service life than ordinary steel products. Its corrosion resistance can be further enhanced after passivation, anodization and other surface treatments, enabling reliable service in humid, coastal and other severely corrosive environments.
In addition, 8xxx aluminum alloys maintain stable mechanical properties at temperatures ranging from room temperature to 150 °C without obvious strength loss, suitable for medium and low temperature working conditions.

Superior Machinability & Surface Finishing Performance

With good ductility, 8xxx coils can undergo various cold working processes including cutting, bending, stretching, stamping and spinning, with low risk of cracking and other defects. The products have high surface smoothness and support spraying, electrophoresis, anodizing, polishing and other surface treatments. The finished surface presents uniform color and strong adhesion to meet aesthetic design requirements of end products. It also has good weldability and can be reliably joined by conventional processes such as TIG welding and resistance welding for easy assembly.

Eco-friendly and Recyclable

Aluminum alloy is 100% recyclable. Waste 8xxx aluminum coils can be completely remelted and reprocessed. The energy consumption for recycling is only about 5% of that for primary aluminum smelting, with low carbon emissions. It complies with green manufacturing and carbon reduction policies, produces no solid waste pollution and delivers excellent environmental benefits.

Main Application Fields:

Packaging Industry

Packaging is the largest application field for 8xxx series aluminum coils, especially grade 8011. Featuring non-toxicity, odorlessness, excellent light shielding and sealing performance, it is widely used for food and pharmaceutical packaging, such as aluminum foil containers, pharmaceutical foil, cigarette foil and food sealing foil. Processed ultra-thin 8011 coils have superior barrier properties against oxygen, moisture and light, effectively extending the shelf life of food and medicine. All products comply with national safety standards for food contact materials for safe use.

Architectural Decoration Industry

With high strength and great weather resistance, 8xxx coils are fabricated into aluminum single sheets, aluminum composite panels, aluminum honeycomb panels, ceiling panels and curtain wall panels. After surface treatment, the products come in rich colors and premium texture. They are lightweight for easy installation, stain-resistant, scratch-proof and easy to clean. As a mainstream decorative material, they are widely used in commercial buildings, office buildings, residential houses and other projects.

Automotive & Transportation Industry

Following the lightweight trend of the automotive industry, 8xxx aluminum coils are increasingly applied to manufacture automobile fuel tanks, body structural parts, interior decorative panels and heat dissipation fins. Thanks to good thermal and electrical conductivity as well as corrosion resistance, 8xxx coils are made into heat dissipation fins for air conditioners and refrigerators, heat sinks for electronic components and lithium battery casings. High-purity 8xxx aluminum delivers stable conductive performance with a thermal conductivity of approximately 230 W/m·K, far superior to ordinary steel. It efficiently dissipates heat generated during equipment operation, improving operational stability and service life.

Storage & Transportation Requirements:

Store 8xxx aluminum coils indoors in a dry and well-ventilated area. Outdoor storage or placement in locations prone to condensation and drastic temperature changes is prohibited. Keep the products away from acids, alkalis and other corrosive substances to avoid surface corrosion and discoloration.

During transportation, apply waterproof wrapping for moisture protection. Fix the coils firmly to prevent collision, deformation and surface scratches.
